A day at the Med

Yesterday my family and I went to the beach down in Arma di Taggia. My dad and I went down to the beach while mom went shopping to get us some food for lunch. She found a gluten-free frittata for me — it is like a potato and egg pie — and a meringue which is also gluten free. Dad and I played with a miniature inflatable basketball. It was flat and hard to kick so dad attempted to throw it past me in the water while I tried to save the ball as if I were a goalkeeper in soccer.

After the beach, my parents had to go to the bank to withdraw moneyπŸ’Ά and to complete some new form required by a new Italian law, so I tagged along with them. After that we went to get gelato.

I ordered stracciatella and I encountered a HUGE surprise. Instead of a bunch of little pieces of chocolate, I had a few of those and a HUGE piece.

I ALMOST couldn’t finish.

Here is mom’s gelato:

When we got home, mom found a bag full of figs, purple plums, and green plums that our neighbor had left for us. They were so awesomeπŸ˜„βž‘οΈπŸ‘πŸ‰πŸ“πŸˆπŸŽπŸ‡. For supper, we had pasta and salad with the fruit for dessert.

    Elliot,
This is my favorite post so far. It has everything I love—the beach, gelato and a lovely dinner.
I especially liked your photos. They were beautiful and colorful and I loved your empty cup of
gelato. Great photo of you and Dad and Mom sure knows how to order dessert!!
    Happy travels.

Hi! I’m glad you like the new neighbors … another set of nice neighbors added to the list. There are ‘your speed is’ signs in Italy, too, even in the tiny villages. We miss you!

Loved this post!!! All food sounds soooo yummy! The water, the sights, Fresh fruit, gelato, and chunks of chocolate…I could handle that daily including the frittata and stracciatella. one of my favorite pictures is your dad and you standing next to each other walking/looking out towards the beach. Hi to the family.

Thank you Mrs. M! The gelato was really good. My belly felt really full after the day of eating, so maybe weekly instead of daily might be easier to handle! Hi to E, M & R!

  6. Hi Elliot It’s Sammy 3 questions, 1. Where is your house you are staying at and does it get chilly drafts? 2. Was the gelato good? 3. Did you miss your friends in Italy while you were away and do they remember you? #epic smiley facesπŸ˜ƒπŸ˜ƒπŸ˜ƒπŸ˜ƒπŸ˜ƒπŸ˜ƒπŸ˜ƒπŸ˜ƒπŸ˜ƒπŸ˜ƒπŸ˜ƒπŸ˜ƒπŸ˜ƒπŸ˜ƒπŸ˜ƒπŸ˜ƒπŸ˜ƒπŸ˜ƒπŸ˜ƒπŸ˜ƒπŸ˜ƒπŸ˜ƒπŸ˜ƒπŸ˜ƒπŸ˜ƒπŸ˜ƒπŸ˜ƒπŸ˜ƒπŸ˜ƒπŸ˜ƒπŸ˜ƒπŸ˜ƒπŸ˜ƒπŸ˜ƒπŸ˜ƒπŸ˜ƒπŸ˜ƒπŸ˜ƒπŸ˜ƒπŸ˜ƒπŸ˜ƒπŸ˜ƒπŸ˜ƒπŸ˜ƒπŸ˜ƒπŸ˜ƒπŸ˜ƒπŸ˜ƒπŸ˜ƒπŸ˜ƒπŸ˜ƒπŸ˜ƒπŸ˜ƒπŸ˜ƒπŸ˜ƒπŸ˜ƒπŸ˜ƒ

      Hi Sam-Ka-Blam!

Our house is high up in the mountains. And here’s a fun fact: it’s actually carved into a huge rock on the back side. The front side looks out over the mountains and the valley. When it is cloudy and a cloud comes through the window, ice packs should be thrown away; it is so cold. We even turned on the pellet stove one night. But today was very warm and dry and clear. You bet the gelato was good! We found an even BETTER gelato shop that had the ice cream buckets in a circle, rotating slowly. We got a mix of white chocolate and pistachio that was seriously to die for. All of the people we know here in Triora remember us. I guess we’re known as the American family. #tmsf = too many smiley faces!!!

      Hi Ben,

Our neighbors left the fruit basket outside of our apartment door (we actually live in a house that has 4 apartments, one on each floor, so we all go in the same big front door).
